I sold my first print!
Ok so this is the print that my Women's Studies prof. bought- and I shamelessly took a pic of the check so I could remember this feeling forever-- cuz it will probably never happen again! The funny story is that all my family and friends outside the print world thought that the text on this print made it less appealing, though Sandi wanted the only other print that I had available with the text in it- she said that was her selling point! Odd! Anyways- that's been the biggest news in my artistic career, cuz now due to Sandi's generousity I kinda have one! Now what to do with the rest of my life? I am at a cross-roads here people, and I could use all the advice and words that you may have for me on the prospect of graduate school -- should I try to apply? should I concentrate on paying off my overwhelming student loan bills? what's it really worth in the long run? Honestly, I am not in any position to want anything like a master's degree cuz I am still in the process of trying to find just an average job as it is, and that is turning out to be a huge drag as well--- So basically, I am lost. Is it really worth it???

grad school will get you a better job in the long run.
working your way up doesn't really work anymore. unless you move to a metropolitan art center. like nyc, seattle, denver, etc any big city really.
what do you feel inside your heart (lol)
Better days will haunt you.
Congratulations on the sell!! (I like that you added the text as well, actually.) :D I'm not sure if I have any good advice at the moment--I think I'll be in the same position as you after I graduate--ah the great schooling debate! Best wishes! :0)
I am back and am well.
Congratulations on your sold print! That is so exciting!
I have little advice for you; I am sorry. I would say if your heart is into printing you should keep doing what you have to to make sure that is always a priority. If not...move to Denver and hang out with me!
don't stop. apply to grad school...but make sure it's the right one and make sure it's what you want. job shmob, i think it's pretty common for grad students to get t.a.'s, so you'll get paid by the university you choose to attend.
take the money..and keep creating.
Congratulations on being a paid artist. As for your question on continued schooling: What is it you wish to achieve in your art? Will an advanced degree assist you in that endeavor? Is it a matter of having access to materials, tools and equipment? Being in the somewhat insulated environment of academia is a wonderful thing (been there and loved it!). You are free (to an extent) to explore and experiment as you gain knowledge and confidence. Also consider the fact that there are thousands of newly minted MFA's each year that may have similar aspirations and career goals as youself. What do you bring to the mix that's different or unique? All tough questions to consider and, as others have said, you must do what is in your heart.
